Mission at Massanetta is a unique mission experience—churches and groups from around the country come to Massanetta Springs to experience mission in both a urban and rural setting. Mission at Massanetta started in the summer of 2009 and over the years, grew into a thriving mission program. Due to the pandemic, Mission at Massanetta took a pause. But with life going back to “normal,” Massanetta Springs is excited to bring this program back!

Mission projects for groups are careful selected based upon the skill set of the group, particularly the adult leaders. Mission at Massanetta offers a diverse group of community partners each working to address different issues in Harrisonburg and in the surrounding areas including:
Food Justice
People Experiencing Homelessness
Other Social Services
Animals in Our Community
Thrift Stores and Other Second-Hand Stores
For youth groups, Mission at Massanetta requires one adult for every seven youth (of each gender).
What is Massanetta Springs?
Massanetta Springs is a historic camp and conference center is nestled in the Shenandoah Valley. It is a special place where God feels close, lasting memories and friendships are made, and the beauty of creation can be seen all around. We hope to make your experience as meaningful as possible.
Who is Mission at Massanetta for?
When Mission at Massanetta was started in 2009, it was originally designed with middle and high schoolers in mind. Over the years it has developed in a multi-generational program with something for everyone.
What does a typical Mission at Massanetta experience look like?
Massanetta Springs coordinates all the details for your mission trip to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Programming in the evenings is available for those who would like it. Massanetta Springs organizes lodging, food, work sites and recreation, so you can put your time and effort into relationship building and spiritual development. Trips vary in length depending on how long a group wants to stay.
A typical work day looks like:
7:00 am — Breakfast
7:30 am — Leave for first worksite
12:00 — Bagged lunch at worksite
1:00 — Leave for second* worksite
4:00 — Head back to Massanetta
6:00 — Dinner
7:30 — Evening programming/devotion
9:00 — Relax/get ready for bed
10:00 — Lights out
*Depending on the need of the first worksite, there may be one worksite in a day
Cabins ($110 per person, $75 each additional day)
Lodging is in air-conditioned cabins in lushly wooded Camp Massanetta. There are 4 villages, each village has 4 cabins (sleep up to 8 in each, 2 bunks, 4 twins), a shower house, and a building designed for group gatherings. A larger meeting space is shared by all groups.
Cottages & Richardson ($110 per person, $90 each additional day)
Other lodging options are cottages (bunk beds) or dorm-suite style bedrooms (2 twins in each room, 2 rooms share an adjoining bath). Staying in either the cottages or Richardson is at an extra cost.
Meals (included in the registration fee)
Meals are provided in the Historic Hotel dining room, with accommodations made for special dietary needs. Bag lunches are provided on the days your team is away at a work site.
