Rekindling the Fire - How to Give
Rekindle the Fire of Massanetta’s Ministry!
2020 was a difficult year. 2021 is shaping up to be the same. However, when we look to the not so distant future, we see groups of children, youth, and adults once again gathering on the sacred Massanetta Grounds. Now is the time to Rekindle the Fire. Now is the time to be sure we are ready. On April 21, 2021, your generosity will make a huge difference as Massanetta continues to be, “a place for all people to experience God through renewal, discovery, and hospitality.”
Our 2021 Great Community Give will raise funds for three purposes.
To reimagine the gathering area at the springs into a year round venue by adding a fire pit where the water fountains have stood while also restoring the rockwork on the bench and other areas. ($8,000 total cost with $4,000 in matching funds)
To establish a $20,000 COVID fund for extraordinary expenses associated with reopening in 2021. ($10,000 matching gift)
To fuel our ministry in 2021. All funds raised over and above the cost of the spring project will support the most pressing needs of reopening Massanetta Springs once it is safe to do so. ($15,000 matching gift)
Our initial goal is $60,000 for the three projects above. With the $30,000 of matching funds, together we need to raise $30,000 to meet that initial goal.
But are you ready for some really good news? Another donor came forward recently and has offered to “Match the Match.” That’s right, when we raise the full $30,000 for all the initial funds to kick in, another donor will donate another $30,000. This means on April 21, you can TRIPLE your impact. Your $20 donation becomes $60. $100 becomes $300. $1,000 becomes $3,000! There is literally no other day on the 2021 calendar where your generosity will stretch so far.
Once again the Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County is sponsoring Leaderboard Prizes. Last year, we had both the most individual donors and raised the most amount of money for our nonprofit category. This earned us another $6,000 from the Community Foundation. Each donor who gives $10 or more counts as an individual donor. This is why we mean it when we say,
